A portion of Route 571 in Jackson was closed after a dump truck crashed into multiple mobile homes at the Shady Oak Community killing the driver.

Jackson Police say an unidentified 58 year old driver became trapped in his truck that was heading south when it crossed the road, struck a utility pole, drove across the parking lot of Krauszer's and then crossed Anthony Way and into an unoccupied mobile home.

The truck destroyed the unit and came to rest in a residence at 2 Sylvia Lane. Its occupants were get out unharmed.

The dump truck had to be removed from the mobile home before the driver could be removed. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The closure had an effect on the Ocean County Vocational Technical High School's Jackson campus as buses arrived late.

Route 571. a two lane roadway with a speed limit of 50 MPH,  is the most direct route for vehicles traveling to Interstate 195 from the Toms River area. Trucks, cars and school buses all travel the roadway which is mostly residential with no shoulder.
