After a couple of stormy days so far this week, the Garden State will settle into a quiet, pleasant weather pattern through the end of the workweek.

Here are your weather headlines for Thursday, June 9, 2016...

Dry Air = Pleasant Weather

As expected, Wednesday turned into quite a stormy day across New Jersey. But I'm happy to report a much calmer weather picture is shaping up for the next couple of days. And, as long as you don't mind a little bit of wind, that weather picture looks really nice by late Spring standards.

That wind on Thursday will gust as high as 30 mph - not really high enough to cause any real damage concerns. But it could certainly be an annoyance, keeping the air moving around. Skies should remain sunny or mostly sunny all day, warming the air to the mid 70s. That's still a few degrees below normal for early June - but I love 70s, so I'm still calling it a nice day.

Dry air also means Thursday night will be cool and refreshing once again, as thermometers dip into the lower 50s by Friday morning.

And then, we'll do it all again! Friday's wind looks to be at least slightly calmer than Thursday's, and temperatures look to bump to the seasonable upper 70s. Again, with a dry forecast and abundant sunshine, Friday should be a beautiful day.

Saturday = Unsettled

Changes are ahead. And unfortunately, those changes are scheduled for Saturday. But keep reading - the weekend won't be a washout!

First, Saturday will become more humid and warmer. High temperatures will probably reach the lower 80s for most of the state, with 70s along the coast and in NW NJ. Skies will turn mostly cloudy, and then an approaching storm system will likely deliver some rain to everyone in the Garden State.

As I've talked about earlier this week, the timing of this storm system and its associated rainfall has been in flux. It looks like models are finally settling on Saturday afternoon to evening as the best chance for wet weather. However, I don't want to nail down a more specific timeline, because there are still some significant differences - the NAM shows the rain arriving late Saturday morning, while the GFS holds the rain off until late Saturday afternoon.

And it won't just be wet, but potentially stormy - given the newly refreshed warmth and humidity, there could be a period of heavy downpours and gusty winds. So yes, you will need to keep an eye on the sky Saturday, especially if you'll be spending any time outdoors.

Sunday = Improvements

By the time you wake up Sunday morning, the rain should be done. Skies will clear to at least partly sunny as the day presses on, and I think we'll squeeze out a nice end to the weekend. High temperatures on Sunday look to climb to the upper 70s to lower 80s, with a stiff northwesterly breeze.

The first peek at next week's forecast looks quiet and mild. Our forecast is currently rain-free through midweek.
