Acting Attorney General John Hoffman announced today the launch of a multi-agency enforcement effort termed “The Sobriety Blitz,” in response to the more than 400,000 revelers expected to descend on the area this week.

The state Division of Highway Traffic Safety has made $4,000 available to 21 communities, enabling them to increase saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints from January 28 to February 4.

“This initiative has enforcement components we believe will help prevent drunk driving and stop those who have already made the dangerous choice of driving while impaired,” Hoffman said. “In other words, we will be playing offense and defense.”
