New Jersey has always had a reputation for turning out great comedians. Maybe it’s something in the exits and that continues today with up and coming comic Don Jamieson who grew up in Manchester Township and currently co-hosts VH1’s “That Metal Show”, SNY’s “Beer Money” and won an Emmy for his comedy work on HBO’s “Inside The NFL.”

Don’s debut album “Live and Hilarious” debuted at #9 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart! The album was among good company in the top 10 alongside established comedians such as Louis C.K., Mike Birbiglia, Daniel Tosh and more! The album also charted as high as #17 on the iTunes comedy charts.

Don started his career as one of the young and talented comedy minds at MTV helping to launch the careers of comics like Jon StewartKevin JamesPauly Shore (sorry) and Tom Green, but unbeknownst to many, Don was spending his nights on the local comedy scene developing his own comic style.

Don’s stand-up act brings his everyday take on life, the hip, the cool and the tragically sublime into the spotlight. Don tears it up at clubs and theatres all over the country. For the last four years, he has been the regular opener for Andrew Dice Clay. His reputation as one of New York City’s top comics was cemented when he was asked to perform live on ABC’s Good Morning America.

But his roots remain in New Jersey .

A lot more blue collar. my dad was a lineman for the power company. but instead of climbing telephone poles i climb comedy stages.”

Does your Jersey background play a role in your comedy? “A a lot more blue collar.  my dad was a lineman for the power company.  but instead of climbing telephone poles i climb comedy stages."

What are you finding funny right now? “The NY Mets (in a sad way)”.

Who's your favorite metal band? Black Sabbath, the creators of heavy metal. I just didn't like it when Ozzy did 'the Osbournes'. I like to think of him as 'Iron Man' not a man ironing!

How do you feel about hair bands role in metal? Always lots of hot women in the crowds at their shows.

Having worked with Don for many years I can honestly say that he’s not only a funny guy doing standup but a standup guy and that’s what Jersey’s all about. See Don Jamieson this Saturday at the Great Adventure Brew-Ha-Ha along with myself and Big Joe Henry
