JERSEY CITY — Donations to the Liberty Humane Society to help an abused dog will also go to help with her rehab and to other abused dogs.

Feather was found in Jersey City with multiple cuts and a badly fractured hind leg that required surgery, according to the Liberty Humane Society, which has since found her a foster home. She also needed emergency orthopedic surgery to realign her femur.

After she make a recovery from her surgeries, Feather will be put up for adoption.

"Feather is an incredibly sweet dog who, despite her injuries, is still loving and trusting of people. Feather deserves a home where she will be healthy, safe, and protected from now on," the Society wrote on its Facebook page.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office told NJ Advance Media that that Farrakhan Williams, 36, of Jersey City admitted to locking Feather, estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old, in a bathroom after punching her.

Feather's two puppies, Jacob and Joshua, were not injured and were also taken from Williams' home.

A GoFundMe account to raise money for the dog's care had raised more than $5,300 as of Thursday evening.
