The thinking is that a longer school day and or year will help motivate NJ students from an academic sense.

While the governor wants to implement a trial program to see how the longer school day would work, NJ Legislator Shirley Turner re-introduced a measure that would create a commission to look at the possibility of implementing a longer school day and year.

The 13-member panel would study the effects of a longer school year and report its findings afterwards.

By the time the findings are revealed, we are 2 years down the road and we haven't accomplished a thing yet. Is a panel worth it?
