Republicans and Democrats head to the polls to vote a candidate to run for the U.S. Senate seat that was vacated by the death of Frank Lautenberg a couple of months ago.

Many shoppers in Mercer County weren't even aware that today was an election.

"I'm not sure what today is," said one man. "I got something in the mail a few weeks ago, but I don't remember what's going on."

"It's not the race for Governor," said a woman nearby, "I'm just not really sure what is going on."

Another shopper said he knew exactly what was happening, but he wasn't going to vote "because all politicians, Republicans and Democrats, are dirt-bags, and I'm sick of it, so I'm not casting my ballot."

Democrat Cory Booker is a heavy favorite among three other Democratic candidates, while republican Steve Lonegan is the overwhelming GOP choice

The polls are open until 8 p.m. this evening.
