University Hospital in Newark is seeking information about an unidentified male patient who was hospitalized nearly a month ago after being struck by a car.

"This is a critical situation," said University Hospital's director of marketing communications, Stacie Newton.  Though Newton was not at liberty to discuss the man's condition, she said he has been unconscious since he was rushed to the hospital on Nov. 15.

The patient is male, approximately 40 years old, possibly of Hispanic or Portuguese descent, 5’3”, and weighs 150 lbs. The man was reportedly struck by a motor vehicle late Sunday evening, November 15, 2015, in the proximity of Don Pepe restaurant, 844 McCarter Highway in Newark, according to a statement released from the hospital. Newark police speculate that the man may have been at a White Castle location in East Orange earlier that day. He has no identifying marks or scars.
