TEANECK — Police are looking for a police impersonator who stopped a woman for speeding.

The man, driving a sedan that was possibly a Ford Taurus with a blue emergency light on the dashboard,  pulled the woman over on River Road around 11 a.m., Saturday, March 12

He pulled in front of her, walked over over to her car and identified himself as a detective. His hand was over a holstered gun on his right hip, the woman later told police.

Police said that when the woman suspected the man was not a real officer, she drove off. The man then drove off in the opposite direction on Washburn Street.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s standing 5-foot-9 and weighing about 170 pounds with dark buzz-cut hair, dark eyes and a scar by his left eye. He was wearing a black Carhartt sweatshirt with a gold zipper, a white undershirt and dark colored pants.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Teaneck police at 201-837-2600.
