New Jersey State Police are trying to identify a woman whose body was pulled from the Passaic River nearly three years years ago.

The New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropology Lab has produced a clay rendition from a recovered skull. In addition, the NJSP Composite Artist Unit produced a sketch of the deceased woman, who was found along the river in Newark in April, 2013.

The woman had curly black hair, is estimated to have been between 30 and 50 years of age, stood 5 feet and 4 inches tall, and weighed 140 pounds, police said.

She was found wearing thermal clothing with distinctive Ethiopian jewelry, police said. One necklace was a chain link with a black cross pendant, according to police. Three other necklaces had multi-colored ribbons of red, yellow and green. Hanging from the ribbons were three charms reminiscent of Ethiopian crosses. Each of the crosses had a different and distinctive design. She also had metal hoop earrings.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the woman to call the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit at 609-882-2000 or the Essex County Sheriff's Office at 973-621-4111.
