This story comes from Little Rock, Arkansas, where a new dress code for teachers is set to go into effect this fall. There is a crackdown on shirts with unsavory connotations like beer slogans or drug use; also, no flip flops or bare midriffs will be allowed and female teachers will be required to wear a bra. The strangest part of the new rules, however, is the requirement to wear underwear: “foundational garments will be worn and not visible with regard to color, style, and/or fabric.”

There is also a prohibition on see-through clothing. According to one report, some of the affected teachers are asking their union to intervene. I guess they don’t want to wear underwear.
