Riders of NJ Transit's Gladstone Branch will continue to face challenges using the line through Sunday after yesterday's flooding washed out parts of the rail bed.

Service will remain suspended  between Gladstone and Bernardsville in both directions.  NJ Transit will not provide substitute bus service today meaning customers will need to find alternate transportation to Bernardsville station which is located on Route 202.

Limited rail service will operate from Bernardsville to Hoboken/New York as follows on Friday night.

  • Train 6431, the 5:19 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled at Summit, where customers will board Train 433, which will depart Summit at 6:17 p.m., to continue their trip.
  • Train 435, the 6:02 p.m. Hoboken departure, will be cancelled at Summit, where customers will board Train 6437, which will make an additional stop at Summit this evening, to continue their trip.
  • Train 439, the 6:39 p.m. Hoboken departure will be cancelled out of Hoboken Terminal.  Customers are advised to use Train 441, the 6:59 p.m. Hoboken departure.
  • Train 434, the 9:23 p.m. Hoboken arrival, will not operate.
  • All other evening trains will operate normal schedules between Hoboken and Bernardsville.
  • Trains may be subject to 10-15 minute delays in both directions between Bernardsville and Summit stations.

On Saturday and Sunday trains will only operate between Bernardsville and Summit stations.
