The American Meteor Society says over 70 sightings were reported from New Jersey alone around 8:25pm including Manalapan, Randolph, Woodbridge, Secaucus, Manville, Morristown, Cape May, Evesham and Atlantic City.

"It seemed like it was very close," commented one witness from Cape May.

Another witness wrote, "I've seen shooting stars before, but never saw anything that."

It was also spotted over eastern Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Connecticut and Washington D.C.

AMS trajectory indicates the meteor entered the sky over New Jersey and took a northeast path towards Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
