Has there ever been a gay president? Union High School teacher Nicholas Ferroni seems to think so.

People magazine's "Sexiest Teacher" recently wrote about James "The Bachelor President" Buchanan, the 15th president who preceded Abraham Lincoln from 1857-61.

Lincoln, Ferroni wrote, was known to share his bed with men including his dear friend Joshua Speed. Buchanan is the only president to never marry, although he was engaged to the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in Pennsylvania, but she broke it off for unknown reasons and died shortly thereafter from an illness. Throughout his presidency, Buchanan dealt with speculations of homosexuality.

Those speculations were fueled by a lifelong "bromance" with William Rufus King while still in Congress. They lived together for 15 years before his presidency and were known as "Miss Nancy and Aunt Fancy."

Ferroni said we may never know if Buchanan and King were actually gay, but their letters to each other during their time apart were destroyed by their two nieces. Either way, how long do you think it will be before we actually see a gay or lesbian President in the White House? Would you have a problem if we did?
