Did A Tornado Touch Down In Camden County? [VIDEO]

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Camden County early Tuesday evening.

Investigators have determined that a weak tornado made a quick touchdown along the western side of Cleveland Avenue around 6:30PM and moved in an east-northeast direction crossing Jefferson Avenue before lifting as it approached Kings Highway.

Winds reached a maximum of 70MPH making it a weak EF (Enhanced Fujita)- zero tornado.

The roofs of several homes in the area were damaged by fallen tree limbs.

It's all part of a wild weather day throughout the state on Tuesday with heavy rains falling in some areas in Ocean & Monmouth counties while other areas had no rain at all.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for today for Mercer,  Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties today as more heavy rain is expected that could bring 2-4 inches of rain to an area already soaked. Some hail was also reported in Gloucester County on the NWS Mt. Holly Facebook page.

Funnel clouds were spotted during severe thunderstorms in Maple Shade, Gloucester City, Mount Laurel, Moorestown and Mount Ephraim on Tuesday night.

Some believe a funnel cloud touched down in the area of the Black Horse Pike and Kings Highway in Mount Ephraim.

Camden County spokesman Dan Keashen tells The Courier-Post some trees and wires were knocked down.

A tornado watch was issued for portions of Ocean & Burlington counties on Tuesday afternoon and another issued in the early evening for Sussex County.
