Comparing anyone to Robert De Niro is not easy. To some, De Niro is the greatest actor of all time. Aside from Meet The Parents and the awful sequels that followed, the mans repertoire is extraordinary. The Godfather II, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Heat are just a few of his career highlights. I could go on, but you probably already know the rest.

When you look at the actors of today, their shelf life is relatively short. One actor has gone against the grain, however, and managed to put together a career that few can stand in the shadow of... and he's only 37 years old!

Leonardo DiCaprio, the same actor who got his "big break" in the comedy-horror (Hor-edy?), Critters 3, has risen to the front of the pack in Hollywood. In the 90s, DiCaprio pulled off some great roles in Romeo & Juliet, Titanic and Celebrity. In fact, for a while, people only recognized him as "Jack" from Titanic.

Then came the turn of the century. DiCaprio starred in The Beach, Catch Me If You Can, Gangs Of New York and The Aviator all within approximately four years. He then followed that up with a movie you may have heard of. A movie entitled, The Departed, a film in which many critics consider one of the best in the last thirty years.

After that, films such as Blood Diamond, Revolutionary Road, Shutter Island and Inception have all had starred Leo. Now, we get a chance to see him play J. Edgar Hoover in the movie J. Edgar. The film has already received great

reviews and I look forward to seeing it myself.

Bottom line, in my opinion, Leonardo DiCaprio is our generation's De Niro. Given his track record at such a young age, with only room for more roles and awards, it's going to be a real treat to see what roles producers and directors put him in next.

Here are some local movie times courtesy of Fandango. I'm going to take my own advice and see it tomorrow!
