Now that Joshua Harris owns both the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia 76ers, would he consider moving the basketball team to New Jersey? CEO Scott O Neil says “it’s absolutely ludicrous.”

O'Neill told CBS Philly,

“Ludicrous,” O’Neil said emphatically. “Absolutely ludicrous. Just think about it practically. You have the fourth largest market in the country, that’s a basketball city, with history and tradition like the 76ers. You wouldn’t even consider it. It’s not even an ounce of truth. And it’s downright ridiculous or considerate to think about.”

Philadelphia is actually the 6th largest market. New Jersey sits right next to the number one market, New York. Not to mention, the draw from Morris/Somerset/Union, Monmouth/Ocean, and Trenton markets. Harris pays rent in Philadelphia but controls the Prudential Center. He is a Philly guy, but he is also a Jersey guy. “Josh’s mom was from Philly, and his dad was from Newark, for him it’s a real emotional thing.” said O Neil.
