Democrats gain seats in Assembly, delivering blow to Christie
He was not on the ballot last night, but it was not a good one for Gov. Chris Christie.
Republicans lost three Assembly seats amid the governor's sinking poll numbers in New Jersey. Christie did not campaign here and only made token efforts to raise money for the GOP.
Christie's long-time enemy, the teachers union, dumped millions of dollars into key races. This helped Democrat's secure their biggest majority in the Assembly since 1979.
The election losses also call into question the leadership of Senate Minority Leader Jon Bramnick, who failed to bring enough money or appealing candidates into the GOP.
