The officials, one of whom got a call from the candidate Thursday, spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement is not scheduled until Monday.

The all-female ticket is a first for New Jersey.

Silva is a 43-year-old Hispanic from Montclair who leads a private union of low-wage health care workers.

Her selection for the lieutenant governor slot was first reported by PolitickerNJ.com.

Buono and Silva will face Gov. Chris Christie and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno on Nov. 5.

Silva appeared with Buono at an anti-foreclosure event earlier this month in Newark.
