Obama speaks this afternoon to the United Auto Workers in Ohio, emphasizing his support of the auto bailout that Republican rival Mitt Romney opposed. Obama speaks to the convention in North Carolina on Thursday.

As thousands of Democrats begin gathering in Charlotte, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan campaigns 230 miles to the east in Greenville today. Aides say Ryan will ask voters if they're better off than they were four years ago.
