Deadline Passes To Apply For Second Atlantic City Mini-Casino [AUDIO]

So far, there are no takers to build a second, smaller Atlantic City casino.

A deadline passed Monday for developers to submit plans for a mini-casino, leaving Hard Rock with the only other smaller gaming hall. Two developers had expressed some peripheral interest last summer, but that never panned out.

Gaming expert Israel Posner of Richard Stockton State College says it's not a matter of developers being gun shy about A-C. He says investors are simply waiting to see if they want to jump into the Atlantic City market...is a cheap casino/hotel the right approach or is another investment a better approach?

Posner also says with the new Revel, and the Atlantic City Alliance and new money being poured into the Golden Nugget, some are standing on the sidelines watching how all those investments turn out.

Hard Rock plans to start their mini-casino with just 200 rooms. But they also have plans for a second phase that would add an additional 650 rooms. Hard Rock is seeing delays while it seeks approval from the State Environmental Protection Department for construction.
