There is a grassroots effort in New Jersey to get something done about the lives ruined over the antiquated notion of lifetime alimony in this state. Bill and I have talked about this issue several times in the past few weeks and now the Asbury Park Press is picking up on it too.

This is NOT an attack on rehabilitative (or temporary in other words) alimony which can last for several years. This is saying we all have to stand on our own two feet sooner or later, and is it right that alimony can last longer than the marriage itself did. Put it this way. Even welfare has a time limit in New Jersey now. So should New Jersey continue embracing lifetime alimony?
