Dayna Morales is no longer employed as a server by the Gallop Asian Bistro restaurant in Bridgewater as their investigation into a message left on a receipt has proven “inconclusive.”

In a message posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page Saturday afternoon, they wrote that “in light of the investigation and recent events, both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at our restaurant. We wish her well in the future.

The restaurant wrote “this is not a simple, straight-forward matter and we have conducted our own internal investigation. The results of that investigation are inconclusive as to exactly what happened between Ms. Morales and the customers that night.”

The unnamed family Morales accused of leaving the anti-gay message on their receipt instead of a tip sent an email to New Jersey 101.5 and other media outlets showing that they did leave an $18.00 tip on their $93.55 check and had a credit card statement to prove it.

Returning Donations

On Friday, NBC 4 New York reported that those who made a donation to a PayPal account received an email from PayPal explaining that their donation was being refunded to their account.

Restaurant CEO Jack Yang told New Jersey 101.5 earlier this week that Morales set up the PayPal account and he does not know what became of donations submitted to it. Other donations sent to the restaurant are being held pending its investigation into the matter. She had been taken off the schedule last weekend.

The unnamed family Morales accused of leaving the anti-gay message on their receipt said in an email to New Jersey 101.5 they came forward with a copy of their receipt and a credit card statement showing a tip in part because, “we believe that the people sending her money and patronizing the restaurant should know the truth.”

However, in light of the investigation and recent events, both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at our restaurant. Overall, this has been an unfortunate incident for Gallop Asian Bistro, our employees, and our customers. We are dedicated to providing excellent Asian cuisine and superior service. We have the utmost faith in our management and staff and we welcome the opportunity to serve our customers.
