Wednesday night's game was one for the ages. Either outcome was going to end a very long drought. In a nail-biter, it was the Chicago Cubs who took game 7 in the 10th inning after a rain delay. Impressive enough to come back from a 3 to 1 deficit. But to end 108 years of misery with goat slaying fury? Priceless.

To put some perspective on just how long Cubs fans had to wait for another championship, I offer the following things that didn't even exist in 1908.

The Titanic not only hadn't sunk yet, it hadn't even been built yet. Construction didn't begin until the following year.

Radio broadcasting was still in development, let alone listening to a game on a transistor radio which was still decades away. And NJ 101.5 radio was still 82 years away.

Theodore Roosevelt was president of the United States, and Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would not be born for 39 and 38 more years respectively.

Being born in a hospital was virtually unheard of. 95% of births happened at home.

Las Vegas, Nevada virtually did not exist, having a population of only 30 people.

The telephone existed, but barely. 92% of U.S. households did not yet have one.

New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii existed, but not as U.S. states.

Here in New Jersey, construction of the Garden State Parkway would not begin for another 39 years. And the NJ Turnpike would not open for traffic until 43 years after the Cubs won.

Our governor was John Franklin Fort. (I know, who?) Woodrow Wilson's term would not start for 3 more years.

The first drive-in movie theater would not open in New Jersey for another 25 years.

Congrats to Cubs fans on the end of one hell of a curse!
