EAST RUTHERFORD (AP) -- Six months after undergoing knee surgery, wide receiver Victor Cruz has no doubt that he will play in the New York Giants' regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The 28-year-old Cruz said Thursday that his right knee feels great and that he feels he can return to being one of the league's top receivers.

Cruz was limited to four games last season after tearing a patellar tendon in his right knee against the Eagles in October. It marked the second straight year that his season was cut short by a knee injury. He was limited to 14 games in 2013 because of surgery on his left knee.

Cruz has been running in straight lines in recent weeks and his next step will be cutting. While he wants to push himself, Cruz says being patient is more important.
