CLARK — A fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway caused miles of backups for much of the Friday morning commute.

State Police said the single vehicle crash happened around 6 a.m. past exit 136 for Raritan Road in Clark Township on the northbound side when a Toyota Camry hit a tree along the right side.

Raymond Andreola, 28, of Pittston, Penn was pronounced dead on the scene. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the crash.

Northbound delays started about 7 miles away at the New Jersey Turnpike as of 9:30 a.m.
