HOWELL — A car struck a Jeep hauling a boat trailer on Sunday morning, turning the boat sideways along the road.

State Police spokesman Lawrence Peale said the a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Melaney Santamaria, 21, of Belmar stuck the Jeep, driven by Bela Vincze, 52, of Holland, Pennsylvania on the highway near the exit for Route 9 around 6:30 a..m.

That caused the 23-foot Bayliner craft to flip onto its side and block a lane and shoulder of the highway, authorities said.

The road was closed for about 2 hours, according to Peale, who said the incident remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported and no citations have yet been issued.
