According to a Nixle alert issued by Norwood police, Stephen Sinsi was attacked at McClellan and D'Ercole Court as he walked his dog. There's no word on his condition, or that of the dog.

Several coyote sightings had been reported to Norwood police recently but this was the first attack.

Sinsi tells ABC 7, "I don't think he would have came after me if I didn't have a dog with me. I've seen one or two come close but I've never seen them come close..he came right up."

Earlier in April, a Saddle River man was attacked by a coyote as he worked in his backyard. The coyote was later determined to be rabid. The coyote was euthanized after the attack and officials discovered six dead pups in its den.

Police and wildlife officials are looking for the coyote's mate or any other offspring.
