Police say 3-year-old Ava Byrne and Robert Byrne, 24, have been found safely Friday afternoon in New York City.

Police in Pennsylvania and New Jersey are asking the public to help find a 3-year-old girl abducted overnight from Luzerne County in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Alert late Friday morning. New Jersey State Police followed less than hour later, interrupting local TV and radio broadcasts and sending messages to cellphones of Garden State residents.

The 3-year-old Ava Byrne was last seen 12:30 a.m. on Vine Street in Nescopeck Borough, located about an hour and 15 minutes from the western border of North Jersey.

Police say Ava was abducted by Robert Byrne, 24. Byrne is described as 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighing 215 pounds, with borough hair and eyes.

He drives a silver 2004 Hyundai Elantra with Pennsylvania registration HKB-4681.

Police say Ava was last seen wearing just a diaper. She has brown hair.

Anyone who sees the Byrne, Ava or the vehicle should call 911.
