Tom Coughlin's next had coaching job will not be close to the New Jersey Turnpike. Or the Golden Gate Bridge.

ESPN reported the former Giants head coach took himself out of the running to be head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, looking to replace Chip Kelly. Couglin, interviewed earlier this week, was concerned about the Eagles' staff structure and about hiring a quality offensive coordinator, according to the sports channel.

Coughlin's former offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo, is expected to take Coughlin's job with the Giants. Coughlin, 69, stepped down as Giants coach the day after ending a 6-10 season but said he would consider another head coaching position.

Kelly, meanwhile, was announced as new head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, another team considering Coughlin, in a statement issued by the NFC team on Thursday. Kelly was let go by the Eagles with one game to go in a disappointing season.
