Speculation about Newark Mayor Cory Booker's political future continues to swirl.

A report on www.politickernj.com Thursday said Cory Booker is meeting with state county Democratic chairs to tell them he is considering challenging Gov. Chris Christie in the governor's race next year.

Booker dismissed the report on WBGO's "Newark Today," saying he is talking to party members about re-electing President Barack Obama, not his own political future. Cory Booker is on the Democratic National Committee's platform committee and will speak at the party's convention next month.

Cory Booker did say there will be a "lot of things to consider" after the presidential election and decisions about his future will "have to wait."

A spokeswoman for Booker did not comment on the report.
