The federal government is standing in the way of some New Jersey towns honoring their police by painting a blue line between the stripes on the road. Does that really honor the police?

If so, should we also be honoring the firefighters who also risk their lives sometimes on a voluntary basis? Not to mention teachers and sanitation workers, etc.

What about the towns that are not painting their lines blue? Does that send a bad message? How about this: If you really want to show your police how much you appreciate them, support them, cooperate with them in your dealings and of course, don't commit any crimes. That may be more difficult for some than others.
