(AP) — Authorities say a northern New Jersey man stabbed his wife and mother-in-law during a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Friday at the family's home on Winfield Avenue in Jersey City. But authorities have not said what sparked the stabbings.

The 53-year-old man faces weapons charges and two counts each of criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities say he fled from the home in a minivan after the stabbings occurred, but was soon captured by state police after he crashed the vehicle near Exit 11 on the New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge Township.

The two victims suffered serious injuries in the attack and were hospitalized in critical condition. Their names have not been released.
