While politicians like Cory Booker or Bonnie Watson Coleman may try to turn eyes away from the real issue behind the civil rights crisis, the cops aren't the problem.

Many people in black communities don't feel safe but it is not because of the police in those neighborhoods. In a new book, "War on Cops" Heather McDonald breaks down some alarming statistics. 75% of the shootings in New York City, the suspects were black. Why can't that statistic be addressed by politicians?

The other culprit in this is the media. The media needs to stop inciting the types of violence that we've seen in Dallas and other areas of the country against police officers. Those that are cheerleaders for the Black Lives Matter movement also have blood on their hands, after this movement has directly resulted in real violence and the murder of cops.

I love to talk about root causes. Why do we have failed school systems in places like Newark? You know why people turn to crimes in areas like Newark or Camden? There's no opportunity.

There are people in urban areas that can't go from point A to point B without the fear of gang violence, that's the real problem.

A listener named Brandon from Edison called in during a segment today and while he agreed with me on some points, he didn't feel enough was being done to the officers who are allegedly guilty of violence. I agreed whole-heartedly with Brandon that if these officers are found guilty of abuse, they should face harsh punishments. Unfortunately part of the problem is that we don't know if it's a crime until it's determined to be one.
