Construction Leads To Crash On NJ Turnpike
Traffic is moving again on the New Jersey Turnpike after a construction zone accident near Exit 8 caused a 7-mile backup Wednesday.
State Trooper Christopher Kay says a crane was lifting a piece of steel when the beam pivoted into the right lane, hitting a van. Kay says the beam sheared off part of the van's roof.
Kay says the driver, 63-year-old James Crawford of Newark, sustained lacerations. Two northbound lanes were closed for about two hours.
The accident remains under investigation.
