NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adorable kittens Cognac and Sherry were found about a month ago in a box in front of a retail store on Rt. 1 in Edison. They are now at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter and have been getting plenty of love and care from the volunteers and staff at the shelter. Cognac is a playful boy who loves to cuddle with his sister. Sherry is a sweet girl who is an affectionate little puff ball. They will be vaccinated and spayed and neutered this week, and then will be ready for adoption!

If you're interested in meeting Cognac and Sherry or fostering/adopting them, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Heidi, a Boxer and Pitbull mix, was found running in traffic near the water reservoir at Parkway and Parkside Avenues in Ewing and was taken to the Ewing Animal Shelter.  She is a young, sweet and well-behaved dog. She likes to take walks, ride in the car and give kisses. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is belly rubs! Heidi loves people and other dogs. She can be energetic at times, but is mostly very calm and docile. She knows several commands and is doing very well at weekly training classes.

If you’re interested in learning more about Heidi or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Cookie

Cookie, a Dachshund and Labrador retriever mix, is an absolute doll. Before being surrendered to the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter, he was with a family who loved him very much, but could no longer keep him because the youngest family member developed severe allergies. Cookie is great with children and adults, he walks terrific on a leash and likes to play and run around in the yard. He loves belly rubs and to be petted on his ears. You will notice him right away by his soft, velvety chocolate coat, his Dachshund face and his shorter legs. From different angles, he looks like a different dog. As Goldilocks would say, he is not too big and not too small, but just right!  Cookie is quite simply an all-around awesome dog with a delightful personality.

If you're interested in meeting Cookie or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Jodi is at the Ewing Animal Shelter after being surrendered by her family. She's a beautiful Russian Blue with a loving and gentle personality. Jodi loves being pet and having her tummy rubbed while happily gazing into your eyes. She is curious and loves to investigate her surroundings. Jodi is fine with other cats, but isn't very fond of dogs, although we think she can adapt.

To schedule a visit to meet Jodi, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
