Thomas McCabe was pulled from the water four mile off Cape May Point after a friend called the Coast Guard to report McCabe has capsized his kayak.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City  located McCabe from the air, and a 25-foot Response Boat  arrived on scene and transported McCabe back to the station where he was transferred to emergency medical personnel but refused medical attention.

"McCabe stayed with his overturned kayak and was wearing his life jacket, which greatly aided in his survival," said Petty Officer 1st Class Neena Santiago, a watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia.
