The search was suspended for a missing Trenton man who was thrown from a jet ski on Saturday evening

The U.S. Coast Guard said Jesus Diaz Melendez, 26, and another ran aground near the Trenton boat ramp off Lamberton Road around 7 p.m. on Saturday. One of the two men was found in the Delaware River by the crew of the A.J. Meerwald, New Jersey's official Tall Ship, who notified the Coast Guard.

"The Coast Guard and other agencies saturated the search area, but unfortunately was unable to locate the missing man. It is always a difficult decision to suspend a search for a confirmed person in the water. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones affected by this terrible tragedy," said Chief Warrant Officer Jacob Gerasimof, the command duty officer during the case.

Officials involved with the search told 6 ABC neither man was wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard, Trenton Fire Department and New Jersey State Police began a search with a 29-foot response boat crew out of Philadelphia and an MH-65 Dolphin from Atlantic City to respond.

Anyone with additional information about Melendez should contact the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay command center at 215-271-4940 or on VHF-FM marine radio channel 16.
