Coast Guard helicopter lands on SI golf course, no injuries
NEW YORK (AP) — A Coast Guard helicopter had to make an emergency landing on the grounds of a Staten Island golf course because of smoke and fumes in the cockpit. No injuries were reported.
The craft landed on the course at Richmond County Country Club around 10:36 a.m Sunday.
Petty Officer Sabrina Laberdesque says the helicopter had four people in it. They had come up from Atlantic City to monitor an oil spill in Bayonne. She said the helicopter was being examined to determine the cause of the problem.
A call to the country club was not returned.
