It will surely be a difficult day for the parents of Tyler Clementi. He is the student who took his own life after his roommate allegedly used a webcam to spy on his intimate encounter with another man.

Joseph and Jane Clementi have not set foot on the Rutgers campus since Tyler's death in September 2010. Today, they will attend a symposium on the use and misuse of social networks and other new media. Joseph Clemmenti is expected to deliver the opening remarks as a symposium begins.

The couple have set up the "Tyler Clementi Foundation" in honor of their late son. The foundation is a co-sponsor of the event. The foundation also offers a scholarship to gay students in Tyler's name.

Clementi's roommate, Dharun Ravi, is charged with invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and other crimes. He's pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial beginning in February.
