Classic Cocktail Recipes for Dad
This Father's Day whip Dad up a classic, cold, much deserved beverage. One that shows him how appreciated he is and that will conclude what was hopefully a perfect day. Here are three drinks that, without fail, will make his Father's Day one to remember.
1 orange slice
1 maraschino cherry
1 teaspoon sugar
Few drops of Angostura bitters
A splash of soda water to muddle ingredients
2 1/2 ounces rye or bourbon
*Note: Bourbon or rye may be used in the Old Fashioned. In a mixing glass, muddle orange slice, cherry, sugar, bitters and a little soda water: using a muddler, push around and break up cherry and orange until flavor is released.
Add soda water so cherry is wet and sugar is melted. Add bourbon or rye and serve over rocks, if desired.
2 dashes angostura bitters
1 ounce sweet vermouth
2 1/2 ounces bourbon, such as Buffalo Trace
1 maraschino cherry
Fill a short glass 2/3 full with ice. Add bitters, vermouth, and bourbon. Add cherry (and crush it against the side of the glass with a spoon). Stir.
6 fluid ounces vodka (or gin)
1 dash dry vermouth
1 fluid ounce brine from olive jar
4 stuffed green olives
In a mixing glass, combine vodka, dry vermouth, brine and olives. Pour into a glass over ice. Either drink on the rocks, or strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
