Christie’s Convention Role Still Not Confirmed
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he’s still in the dark over how prominent a role he’ll play at the upcoming Republican National Convention.
The governor says presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney has not asked him to speak at the party’s nominating convention this month.
Christie was asked Monday to react to the Romney camp’s rollout of seven convention speakers, a list that doesn’t include Christie.
The first-term governor says he’s planning to attend the convention as a delegate. And he says no headlining role has been offered so far.
He spent two days last week campaigning and fundraising for Romney out of state.
Christie has been reported to be the convention’s keynote speaker. There’s also been speculation he’s being considered as Romney’s running mate.
