While he wasn't on a ballot, his influence was in play on several key races for governor.

Among the big wins for the GOP were in Maryland, Massachusetts, Illinois and Florida.

Another potential positive for Christie came from the exit polls.

The numbers showed Democrat Hillary Clinton losing big to any unnamed Republican, if she runs for president. Christie is a big contender to be that someone.

The only negative for Christie could result from the success of his own party last night.

With Republicans now in firm control of Congress and several key governor's offices, he could face much stronger opposition in his own party.

Christie has been taking a victory lap today, making several appearances on the morning news shows.
