Christie surprises in southern straw poll
Political analysts are taking note of a strong fourth place finish by Gov. Chris Christie in the latest Southern GOP Conference straw poll.
Christie edged out Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul, but still finished far behind Ben Carson and Scott Walker.
However, after a March poll had a large number of Republicans, who said they would definitely not vote for Christie, he appears to have convinced them to give him a second look.
The timing of the poll could not have been better for Team Christie, who are looking to gain momentum ahead of his probable announcement of a White House bid in the coming weeks.
