Gov. Chris Christie says he will campaign for an amendment to the state constitution that would clear the way for requiring judges to contribute more toward their pensions and other benefits.

In a statement, the governor says he'll do all he can to ensure passage of the amendment.

Both chambers of the state Legislature voted Monday to let the people decide the issue.

The Legislative votes came less than a week after the state Supreme Court ruled that judges could not be required to contribute more toward pensions and health care.
