The governor touted treatment over incarceration at Wednesday's groundbreaking for Daytop New Jersey's expanded adolescent drug treatment facility in Pittsgrove Township.

The expansion will add an outpatient treatment center to existing residential facilities.

Christie has been a Daytop supporter since his days as a freeholder and touted the south Jersey facility as a place where "miracles happen."

The Republican governor says the issue of addiction is personal for him. He again told the story of a close friend from law school who died earlier this year at 52 from a prescription drug overdose.

Christie announced Tuesday that police across the state will be trained to administer drugs that halt heroin overdoses.
