Christie signed the budget in private on Friday.

Christie's fourth budget appropriates more than $9 billion to education and makes a legally obligated $1.7 billion payment to the state pension system.

But it does not include $2 million for a school voucher program or money to restore a 2010 cut to a tax credit program for the working poor.

Property tax rebates for the elderly, disabled and low-income residents were also deferred. Eligible residents will wait until August for the credits.

The budget was approved by the Democratic-led Senate and Assembly with minor changes from the one Christie proposed in February.

Because the deal was negotiated, Christie did not use his line-item veto power.
