The two governors campaigned together Tuesday at C&L Aviation Group in Bangor. Christie, chairman of the RGA, was also headlining a pair of fundraisers for the Maine Republican Party and LePage in Dedham.

Christie said that the exact amount is unclear, but he pledged that the group would spend every dollar it needs to help LePape, who's locked in a three-way battle with Democrat Mike Michaud and independent Eliot Cutler.

The RGA spent about $1.8 million in Maine in 2010.

Democrats seized on Christie's visit to criticize the two governors' economic records. Christie and LePage defended their records and touted their job creation efforts.
