New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he's confident the Republican Party will eventually settle on Mitt Romney as its presidential nominee.

The former Massachusetts governor got off to a good start Tuesday, squeaking by former Pennsylvania's Sen. Rick Santorum to win the Iowa caucuses.

Christie, who endorsed Romney and has campaigned for the candidate in Iowa, called the result "a good win."

"Landslide Romney," he joked of the eight-vote victory before adding, "a win by any number of votes is a good win." Christie says he may campaign in New Hampshire with Romney before Tuesday's primary there.

Romney is the heavy favorite to win that backyard contest. Christie, who answered questions after visiting retired New  Brunswick homeowners, says it's unlikely he'd be on Romney's ticket as vice president.
