Although Gov. Chris Christie is attempting to boost his international relations profile with this week's trade mission in Mexico, he was tight-lipped about the hot-button immigration issue on Thursday.

"I won't have anything to say on immigration unless and until I become a candidate for president of the United States. If that happens, then I will articulate a full position on it, and then you guys can pick it apart and praise it or damn it however you like," Christie said.

The issue is an important one for Christie, though, because of recent reports stating that many undocumented immigrant children have been sent to New Jersey.

He has been increasingly critical of President Obama on the issue, but his own comments remain very limited.

Today is the final day of the governor's trip.
